What is the syringe for in Silver Pines?
Filling at the sap tree. Walkthroughs use the empty Syringe on the tree with discolored sap in the Market Street alley near the cinema, which gives you Syringe Blue, an antidote. See Syringe.
The Silver Pines syringe is an empty Syringe from the Pet Clinic in Downtown.
Walkthroughs fill it at a tree bleeding discolored sap in the Market Street alley near the cinema, which turns it into Syringe Blue, an antidote.
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Syringe | In the Pet Clinic (Friendly Paws), Downtown. "Glass syringe with a sharp needle. It's Empty." Source: The game files. |
| Syringe Blue | "A syringe filled with an antidote solution." See how to fill the Syringe. Source: The item's description in the game files. |
| Crank Handle | In a ruined house in the woods on Church Hill. "Sturdy mechanical crank worn from years of use. The end is shaped like a diamond." Source: The game files. |
| Motel Car Key | In a duffel bag in Bungalo 3, the Crimson Bear Motel's Room 3. "Key to a car trunk." Source: The game files. |
| Attic Key | In the Funeral Home's upstairs living quarters, Church Hill. "Key found at the Funeral Home on Church Hill." Source: The game files. |
The places above come from the game files; how each item is used comes from walkthroughs and is covered in the sections below. The Silver Pines interactive map shows each of these rooms.
You pick up the Syringe inside the Pet Clinic, the Friendly Paws building in the Loomis Street part of Downtown, on the same visit as the Friendly Paws List and the Cat Collar memento. The clinic door needs the Pet Clinic Key, and the game files put that key in a car trunk just outside the clinic; the Downtown guide covers the route in.
The Syringe you pick up is empty, and that is all the game tells you about it. The use comes from a full-game walkthrough:
Two launch-week playthroughs read out the same text at that tree, one of them just after finding the locked way to Riverside near Market Street, so the tree is in Downtown rather than in Riverside itself.
What Syringe Blue does. The game describes it as "a syringe filled with an antidote solution", so it is a cure for poison rather than a heal. The walkthrough keeps it for fights that poison you.
For the other healing and antidote items, see healing and crafting in the beginner guide.
The Crank Handle is on Church Hill, in a ruined house in the woods below the main street. Walkthroughs reach it by going to the far left of the first street, dropping over the ledge and breaking a cracked wall with the Sledgehammer, which leans against the cemetery well. The Church Hill guide lists what else is in that house.
Its end is diamond-shaped, and the slots it fits are described in the game as a diamond-shaped slot for a crank, as playthroughs read out at several of them. Walkthroughs use it in these places:
| Where | What the crank does | Area guide |
|---|---|---|
| Cemetery well, Church Hill | Raises the bucket; an eel comes up with the last Metal Cube for the church tower gate | Church Hill cubes and clues |
| Sluice gate panel, Downtown docks | Turns the gears once the Heavy Mechanical Cog is fitted, lowering the water in the Sewers | Sewers |
| Crank box by the UNION sign, Downtown | Opens a storage unit; the Pet Clinic Key is in the car trunk inside | Loomis Street and the clinic |
| Town Hall roof clock, Town Square | Sets the clock; walkthroughs set it to 10:07, which opens a hidden room off the third-floor corridor with the Cracked Wrist Watch memento | Town Square |
| Crank box in the Sport Smart stairwell, Market Street | Opens the way to the Attachable Laser Sight and a Pipe Bomb | Market Street |
All five uses come from walkthroughs. The sluice gate is the one on the main route; the Sewers stay flooded until you turn it, as the walkthrough explains. The puzzle solutions page has the gear order for the sluice gate.
Riverside has another diamond slot, in the Warehouse, that players cannot use on a first visit. This page does not have a source for what it opens, so check the Riverside guide for updates.
The Motel Car Key lies in a duffel bag in Bungalo 3, which is Room 3 at the Crimson Bear Motel. Its description is just "Key to a car trunk", and it opens no door on the game's map. You only get into Room 3 late in the game; the Crimson Bear Motel guide explains how.
Walkthroughs use it on the car trunk in front of the motel, the one demo players found they could not open. During the demo, a developer said in the official Discord on June 15, 2026 that this trunk is part of a puzzle later in the game. This page does not list what is inside the trunk, because no source we have read names its contents.
Two other trunk keys are easy to confuse with it:
Attic Key. It lies in the Funeral Home's upstairs living quarters on Church Hill, in the same rooms as the Funeral Home Code document, and it opens a door on the Funeral Home's third floor next to the room with the Swedish K SMG. The Church Hill keys table has it with the other Funeral Home keys. It is a different item from the Star Key, a key with a star-shaped insert.
Pet Clinic Key. The game files put it in a car trunk outside the clinic. Walkthroughs open the storage unit around that car with the Crank Handle (see above).
Keys covered on their area pages. These have their own sections elsewhere:
What each item is used for comes from one full-game walkthrough and two launch-week videos, not from the game files, which record where items lie but not where they are used. The trunk the Motel Car Key opens and the Riverside Warehouse slot are the two open points on this page. It will be rechecked when a patch changes any of these items, or when a second written source confirms the uses.
Filling at the sap tree. Walkthroughs use the empty Syringe on the tree with discolored sap in the Market Street alley near the cinema, which gives you Syringe Blue, an antidote. See Syringe.
In the Pet Clinic (Friendly Paws) in Downtown. The clinic needs the Pet Clinic Key, which is in a car trunk outside. See Syringe.
In a ruined house in the woods on Church Hill, behind a cracked wall that walkthroughs break with the Sledgehammer. See Crank Handle.
The diamond-shaped crank slots. Walkthroughs use it on the cemetery well, the sluice gate, the storage unit by the UNION sign, the Town Hall clock and the Sport Smart stairwell. See the table.
A car trunk at the Crimson Bear Motel, according to walkthroughs. The key itself is in a duffel bag in Room 3. See Motel Car Key.
In the Funeral Home's upstairs living quarters on Church Hill. It opens a door on the third floor; see Other key items.
