Silver Pines Union Apartments: keys, tokens and the 4th floor

The codes for the building's three locks are on the Silver Pines puzzle solutions page. For the rest of the game, start at the Silver Pines guide hub.

  • Laundry Tokens and the Union Level 3 Key: four tokens lie in 1A / Supervisor, the 2nd floor hallway, the back of the laundry room and the basement Storage. Walkthroughs report that the basement washing machine takes all four and holds the Union Level 3 Key, which opens the 3rd floor from the Stairwell.
  • Floor 4 Button: behind the combination-locked side door in 1A / Supervisor, next to the 1911 Service Pistol. It goes on the elevator panel to reach the 4th floor.
  • Apartment 4B Key: on the Roof, up the stairs from the 4th floor. It opens apartment 4B.

Union Apartments keys and what they open

Utility Room Key EntranceThe Utility Room door outside the buildingA key to the Utility Room at the Union Apartments.
Union Level 3 Key No pickup spot in the filesThe door from the Stairwell to the 3rd floor hallwayFound inside the Union building.
Apartment 4B Key RoofApartment 4B on the 4th floorA key to one of the apartments on the fourth floor of the Union building.
Floor 4 Button 1A / Supervisor, behind the side doorThe elevator's 4th floor stopElevator button made out of glass and plastic. Found at the apartments.

The Utility Room Key is the first thing walkthroughs pick up: it is at the Entrance and opens the Utility Room, which you reach from outside the building. The Union Level 3 Key has no pickup spot in the map data because it is not lying in a room; walkthroughs report that it comes out of the washing machine once you feed it all four Laundry Tokens. The Floor 4 Button is not a key, but it does the same job for the elevator, and walkthroughs report fitting it to the elevator's panel to reach the 4th floor.

Where to find the four Laundry Tokens

The game describes a Laundry Token as a "plastic token for operating a communal washing machine." The files place exactly four of them in the building:

  1. 1A / Supervisor on the 1st floor, in the front part of the apartment.
  2. 2nd floor hallway.
  3. Laundry room (back) in the basement.
  4. Storage in the basement.

Walkthroughs report that the washing machine in the basement laundry room needs all four tokens and that the Union Level 3 Key is inside it. That matches the files: four token spots, a washing machine puzzle in the building, and a key with no spot of its own. Watch the 2nd floor hallway, where walkthroughs mention an enemy behind the gate that spits poison through it.

The three code locks in the Union Apartments

Union Apartments code locks from the game files, build 25806663; clue locations reported by walkthroughs.
LockWhere it isWhere the clue is
Combination lock The side door in 1A / SupervisorThe four newspaper clippings in 1A, matched with documents in the tenants' apartments
Combination lock on a storage door Storage Units, in the basementPainted-over writing on the bedroom wall in 1C
Keypad The Stairwell—

None of the three codes changes between saves, so the answers on the puzzle solutions page work in every game.

The side door in 1A / Supervisor. Walkthroughs describe four newspaper clippings about former tenants in the supervisor's apartment. Each tenant left a document in their own apartment: the Gallery Pamphlet from 1C, the Typewriter Page from 2A, the Birthday Card from 3A and the Water Damaged Diary from 3C. The lock takes apartment numbers. Behind the door are the Floor 4 Button and the 1911 Service Pistol.

The storage door. Walkthroughs report that thick paint covers writing on 1C's bedroom wall. The things you need to clear it are in this building: the Dried Up Paint Solvent in 2A and the alcohol still in 2B. How to put them together is a puzzle without a code, covered on the puzzle solutions page.

The Stairwell keypad. The game files list a keypad in the Stairwell, and the puzzle solutions page has its code. Walkthroughs written before launch reach the basement without entering it, so it is listed here only so you know it exists.

What each floor of the Union Apartments holds

Items and documents use the game's own English names. Containers are listed by count only, because what a container holds varies.

Outside the building

At the Entrance: the Utility Room Key. Walkthroughs report that the building's map, a fire escape plan, hangs on the wall just inside. In the Utility Room: Spare Parts. Around the outside: four containers. Walkthroughs report a Memento Vessel Shard in a wind chime inside the boarded-up Shed, and another on the scaffolding outside the stairwell window.

1st floor

In 1A / Supervisor: a Laundry Token and .38 Bullets; behind the side door, the Floor 4 Button, the 1911 Service Pistol and .223 Full Metal Jacket. In 1B: one container; one walkthrough reports a coffee pot that raises maximum stamina, reached through the mirror in 1C's bathroom. In 1C: the Gallery Pamphlet from 1C, a Bottle and three containers. In the 1st floor hallway: the Newspaper: Squatters Postpone Demolition document and Nails. The Elevator and Union Apartments 1st Floor are on this floor too.

Basement

In the Basement: .38 Bullets and one container. In the Laundry room (back): a Laundry Token, the V Guitar Pick memento and a .44 Magnum Cartridge; walkthroughs place the Waterlogged Poetry Book by a cracked wall back here. In Storage Units: a Battery. In Storage: a Laundry Token, Gasoline, two Bottles, a First Aid Kit and one container. At the bottom of the Stairwell: a Tonic (Healing) and one container.

2nd floor

In 2A: the Typewriter Page from 2A and two containers; walkthroughs report the Dried Up Paint Solvent here. In 2B: four Bottles and one container, plus the alcohol still walkthroughs describe. In 2C: three containers; one walkthrough reports a Memento Vessel Shard behind a vent. In the 2nd floor hallway: 12ga Buckshot and a Laundry Token.

3rd floor

In 3A: the Birthday Card from 3A and two containers. Walkthroughs report that the cat from the Outskirts turns up here. In 3B: Nails and one container. In 3C: the Water Damaged Diary from 3C and two containers. In the 3rd floor hallway: a Repair Kit and one container. On the stairs between the 3rd and 4th floors: the Hip Bag.

4th floor and Roof

In 4A: .38 Bullets and one container. In 4B: a Diary Page and one container. In Union Apartments 4th Floor (Roof Access): two containers. On the Roof: the Apartment 4B Key, another Diary Page, a Bottle and two containers.

Gasoline and a Bottle combine into a Molotov Cocktail, based on player walkthroughs. For herbs, bottles and other combinations, see the Silver Pines beginner's guide.

Getting through the Union Apartments

You reach the building from Apartment Street in Downtown. Walkthroughs describe arriving through the movie theater's back exit and unlocking a gate there that opens a shortcut back into Downtown. From there, guides written before launch follow much the same order:

  1. Take the Utility Room Key at the Entrance, and the building map from the wall.
  2. Switch off the broadcast in the Utility Room, outside the building. Walkthroughs report that the intercom by the entrance can then reach apartment 4B, and calling it opens the way in.
  3. Collect the four Laundry Tokens and open the washing machine in the basement for the Union Level 3 Key.
  4. Open the 3rd floor from the Stairwell. Break the mirror in 3C's bathroom to get into 3B, carry on to 3A, then drop from the balcony outside 3A to the far side of the 2nd floor to reach 2A.
  5. Clear the paint on the wall in 1C's bedroom to find the clue for the storage door in the basement, then open it. The puzzle solutions page covers how.
  6. Open the side door in 1A / Supervisor, take the Floor 4 Button and the 1911 Service Pistol, and ride the elevator to the 4th floor.
  7. Climb from Roof Access to the Roof for the Apartment 4B Key, then open 4B.

Walkthroughs report that turning off the bathtub tap in 4B starts a boss fight in the basement, and that you come back out of it holding Cable Station Bell (D). Walkthroughs suggest saving in the 4th floor safe room before you open 4B.

Version notes and limits

This page reads the full game's files, build 25806663, on October 8, 2026. The order of play, the washing machine, the clues for the code locks and the boss fight come from walkthroughs written on a review build before launch, so those are the parts that would differ if the release build changed this building.

Three points are still open. Walkthroughs reach the basement without the Stairwell keypad, so what it guards is still to be checked in the release build. Only one walkthrough mentions the coffee pot in 1B. And a few items those walkthroughs list do not appear in the release files, so this page follows the files.
