Silver Pines tips before you start
The free demo is covered on the Silver Pines demo page, and everything else on the game starts at the Silver Pines guide hub.
- Search every room. The store page says inventory space is limited and that every bullet, bottle of medicine and upgrade matters.
- Avoid fights you don't need. The game lets you fight or avoid enemies, and a developer said you can crouch to sneak past enemies that are busy with something else.
- Pick up Hip Bags. Each one adds 2 inventory slots, according to the game's own description. The demo has three.
- Keep your melee weapon repaired. Duct Tape restores a little durability and a Repair Kit restores it fully; a developer warned that broken melee weapons deal very low damage.
- Combine herbs. A Flatleaf Herb heals slowly on its own, or combines with other herbs using bottles.
- Photograph what you can't open yet. The camera's photos can be added to the map.
- Don't miss the shotgun. A developer said many players miss it at the motel.

Which Silver Pines difficulty to pick
The full release has four difficulty options: Relaxed, Tense, Survival Horror and Nightmare, the publisher said in the official Discord on September 30, 2026. A developer added the next day that Nightmare can be chosen from the start, without finishing the game first.
In June 2026 the developer described the demo's balance as very unforgiving, and named Survival Horror as the intended difficulty, close to what the demo plays like. The same developer said lower difficulties would give you more resources, extra drops before hard moments and more money from the coin slots on payphones.
- New to survival horror, or here for the story: start on Relaxed or Tense. The official Silver Pines account on X describes Relaxed as a focus on story and exploration, and Tense as tipping the scales slightly in your favor.
- Played the demo and enjoyed the pressure: Survival Horror is the intended experience.
- Want every mistake punished: Nightmare is open from the start.
The publisher has not listed every rule each difficulty changes, so this guide does not guess at them.
How saving works in Silver Pines
In the demo you save at payphones. Players and guides report that a save costs coins, the same money that buys ammo and healing, and that every payphone's coin return slot holds a coin. Game8's demo review (May 29, 2026) also noted that money is needed for saving as well as supplies. Guides report two free autosaves in the demo: after the first phone call and before the boss.
Two cautions for the full game:
- A developer said the save system was reworked after the demo so that future patches would not break saves. The full game's rules may differ.
- Demo saves do not carry over to the full game, the developer said.
Until launch, the safest habit is the demo's: save before a new building, an unfamiliar puzzle or a boss, not after every room.
Silver Pines resources and inventory
The store describes Silver Pines as a game about scavenging scarce resources with limited inventory space. In practice:
- Hip Bags add 2 inventory slots each, in the game's words. The demo has three, so they are worth hunting for.
- Vending machines are not infinite, a developer said. Buy what you need, not everything on offer.
- Bottles are containers that can also be thrown as an improvised ranged weapon, according to the game. Weigh that against keeping them for crafting.
- Item box: guides report a storage box for things you are not using, which frees slots for ammo and healing.
- Menus don't stop the world: guides report that the inventory and code entry screens do not pause the game. Open them somewhere safe.
Combat, stamina and durability
Fighting is optional more often than you might expect. The store says you can fight or avoid the town's horrors, and a developer said crouching lets you sneak past enemies that are busy with something else.
- Stamina is short. IGN's preview (August 19, 2026) described an extremely short stamina meter, drained by sprinting and dodging. Guides describe the diner's coffee machine as a permanent stamina upgrade, and the developers have said the stamina bar shows when you drink coffee.
- Dodge is your main move. On PC, a developer said, jump sits on Alt because dodging is used far more often than jumping. The developers also said the demo's dodge was a bit unreliable and that they were looking at it.
- Maintain your melee weapon. Broken melee weapons deal very low damage, a developer said. Duct Tape restores a small amount of durability and a Repair Kit restores it fully. Bloody Disgusting's preview (June 1, 2026) described quick minigames for reloading and repairing.
- Reload with care. Magazine weapons reload a lot faster, though they still have their own reload minigame, according to the developer.
- Get the shotgun. A developer said the shotgun is optional but the game may be rough without it, and that many players miss it. It is in the motel's Gift Shop; the locker code is on the Silver Pines demo page.
Bloody Disgusting also described mementos you can equip for character modifiers. The demo has four artifacts in its game files.
Healing and crafting in Silver Pines
The game describes the Flatleaf Herb as a herb with medicinal properties: eat it for slow healing, or combine it with other herbs using bottles. Soda restores a minor amount of health.
A developer explained the crafting system in June 2026: four types of herbs combine with bottles into healing or buffing medicine, and you can also make makeshift repair items, molotovs and more. The demo shows only the Flatleaf Herb, so expect more herb types in the full game.
Guides report that healing takes time and the game does not pause for it. Heal before a fight or somewhere safe, not in the middle of one.
Map, camera and codes
The camera prints photos after capture that can be added to the map, in the game's own words. Use it on locked doors, blocked paths and clues you cannot use yet, so the map reminds you where to come back.
Read codes in your own game. A developer said in June 2026 that some codes are randomized per save, while codes tied to art in the world or to a phone call are harder to randomize. A number copied from a video may not work for you.
Silver Pines controls on PC and controller
Steam lists full controller support, including DualShock and DualSense. On keyboard, jump is on Alt rather than Space, a developer said, because dodge is used much more often. The same developer said players who prefer other keys can rebind the controls.
Version notes and limits
This guide is written before launch. Item text comes from the demo build 23642600; difficulty names and other details come from the publisher's and developers' replies between June and October 2026. The save system and the dodge are the two areas the developers have said changed or were being worked on after the demo, so both are checked again after the October 8, 2026 launch.
