Games Like Deep Dish Dungeon: What to Play Next
NPC Tips picks games like Deep Dish Dungeon by the part you want more of: surviving with friends, working out a world full of secrets, or crawling through a dungeon in first person. These are editorial comparisons based on official descriptions, without author playtesting of the six recommendations.
What should you play after Deep Dish Dungeon?
When a player in the official Discord said they had finished everything and needed another game like it, the developer's answer was Animal Well. That is a good start if the secrets and puzzles hooked you. For co-op survival with friends, try Valheim or Abiotic Factor. For a world that opens up as you find tools, try Silver Pines. For a first-person dungeon, try Barony with friends or Lunacid alone.
No single game repeats the mix. Deep Dish Dungeon puts a hand-crafted, puzzle-filled dungeon, crafting and cooking, and co-op for up to three players in one place. Each pick below keeps one or two of those parts and changes the rest.
Choose the part of Deep Dish Dungeon you want to keep
Think about what you will miss. Was it the evenings with friends, or the moment a locked door finally made sense? The answer points to a different game.
Playing with friends. Valheim, Abiotic Factor and Barony all have online co-op, and all take bigger groups than Deep Dish Dungeon's three. Valheim and Abiotic Factor keep the survival and crafting loop; Barony keeps the dungeon and drops the camp. If you play solo, all three also work alone.
Secrets and puzzles. Animal Well and Silver Pines are both single-player, and both are built around a world you open up step by step. Most of the follow-ups players swapped in the official Discord after finishing were puzzle games like these. The trade-off is that you play them alone.
A first-person dungeon. Barony and Lunacid are both first-person dungeon crawlers. Barony is co-op but makes a new dungeon every run; Lunacid is single-player and hand-made, closer in spirit to the old King's Field games it is inspired by.

Valheim: for co-op survival and food that matters
Valheim is exploration and survival for 1 to 10 players in a procedurally generated world inspired by Norse mythology. Its official description puts building, crafting and a food system that grants benefits tied to combat near the center.
Why consider it: the food. Deep Dish Dungeon turns cooking into progress, and reviewers often compare its meals with Valheim's. The developer has also said he "really wanted those valheim swamp dungeons to be a whole game".
What changes: Valheim is an open, generated world you build in, not one hand-crafted dungeon. Groups can be much larger, and exploring means sailing between biomes rather than finding the next key.
Players: 1–10, online co-op. See Valheim on Steam.
Abiotic Factor: for surviving underground with friends
Abiotic Factor is survival crafting for 1 to 6 players, set deep underground in a research facility where things have gone wrong. Its official description has scientist classes, craftable tools and weapons, and a massive complex to explore.
Why consider it: it is the closest match in setting and group play. You are below ground with friends, scavenging, crafting the tools you need and making a base of the place.
What changes: the tone is 1990s science fiction rather than fantasy, groups can be twice as large, and it adds base-building and character classes.
Players: 1–6, online co-op. See Abiotic Factor on Steam.
Animal Well: the developer's pick for secrets
Animal Well is a single-player, pixel-art labyrinth. Its official description promises a dense, interconnected world full of secrets, items that change your surroundings, and exploration in whatever order you choose, with tension over action.
Why consider it: this is the game Deep Dish Dungeon's developer named when a player asked what to play next, on October 15, 2026. He also said a talk by Animal Well's developer had been inspiring early in his own work. If the best moments were working out how a room fits together, start here.
What changes: it is solo, with no cooking or crafting. Players in the same conversation noted it is "not same genre". Choose it for the puzzles, not for the camp.
Players: 1. See Animal Well on Steam.
Silver Pines: for a world that opens with new tools
Silver Pines is single-player survival horror. Its official description has puzzles blocking your way, a town that opens up as you find better tools and weapons, and limited inventory space, so every item matters.
Why consider it: the progression is the same idea. In Deep Dish Dungeon a new tool opens a door you passed hours ago; in Silver Pines, better tools open more of the town. Both make you manage what you carry.
What changes: it is a horror game played alone, viewed from the side, and set in a small American town with monsters and bosses. Our Silver Pines guides cover it if you get stuck.
Players: 1. See Silver Pines on Steam.
Lunacid: for a dark first-person dungeon alone
Lunacid is a single-player, first-person dark fantasy dungeon crawler inspired by King's Field and Shadow Tower. Its official description promises dense dungeons, esoteric puzzles and cryptic hints.
Why consider it: it is a first-person descent into a deep, dark place, and it expects you to work things out from small hints.
What changes: you play alone, it is an action RPG so fighting matters more, and there is no camp or cooking.
Players: 1. See Lunacid on Steam.
Is Deep Dish Dungeon based on another game?
Not on any single one. Asked in August 2025, the developer said the game comes from his love of tabletop role-playing and dungeon crawlers, "not any specific game or reference". Behold Studios also made Knights of Pen & Paper.
Many players and reviewers compare it with Delicious in Dungeon (Dungeon Meshi), the manga and anime about cooking monsters in a dungeon. The developer has said it is "not Dungeon Meshi the Game", and the studio wrote on Reddit that it only found out about Dungeon Meshi afterwards. He has, though, said he wanted Valheim's swamp dungeons to be a whole game.
The six picks above are NPC Tips' choices, not a list from the developer. Only Animal Well was named by him.
Version notes and limits
This list leaves out prices, scores, play times and console versions; check the official store page for the version you want. Online co-op on Deep Dish Dungeon is up to three players; our multiplayer guide explains the limit.
We will revisit a pick if its official description changes a feature used here, if the developer names other games, or if a closer match is released.
