Deep Dish Dungeon PC requirements: minimum and recommended
These are the PC requirements on the Deep Dish Dungeon Steam page, copied line by line. Both columns require a 64-bit processor and operating system.
Steam store listing, checked October 5, 2026; it was the same on October 4. | Component | Minimum | Recommended |
| Operating system | Windows 10, 11 or superior | Windows 10, 11 or superior |
| Processor | Intel Core i3 or superior | Intel Core i5 or superior |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | DX9 (shader model 3.0) or DX11 with feature level 9.3 capabilities | Nvidia GTX 580 / AMD HD 7870 or newer |
| DirectX | Version 11 | Version 11 |
| Network | Broadband Internet connection | Broadband Internet connection |
| Storage | 2 GB available space | 2 GB available space |
There is no 32-bit version, so a 32-bit Windows install won't run it.
The network line is there for online co-op, which our Deep Dish Dungeon multiplayer guide covers. You don't have to stay online to play alone: the demo has an offline mode that disconnects you from the game's servers, and Valve's Steam Deck data for the full game marks single-player and first-time setup as not needing an internet connection.
These are the requirements Steam shows before launch. We will check the listing again on launch day and update this table if anything changes.
Can your PC run Deep Dish Dungeon?
Compare your PC with the minimum column one line at a time. Memory is the line most likely to stop you: 8 GB is the minimum and 16 GB the recommendation. The processor lines name only a Core i3 and a Core i5 "or superior", without a generation, and the minimum graphics line asks for a card that supports DirectX 9 with Shader Model 3.0, or DirectX 11 at feature level 9.3. Steam does not name any integrated graphics chip either way, so for a laptop the honest test is the same: 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, a Core i3 or better, 8 GB of RAM and 2 GB free.
Players who tried the demo describe it as light. One player in the official Discord reported on February 20, 2026 that it ran smoothly both on a desktop with an RTX 3060 Ti and on an old laptop, and YouTuber Chill Dad Gaming said a two-player session in March 2026 "ran incredibly smooth" with no major bugs or crashes. Those are individual reports from the demo, not a guarantee for your hardware, and nobody publishes frame-rate figures for it.
If the demo runs slowly, these are the settings it gives you (build 23712006):
- Render Quality, with Medium and High. The June 2026 update removed the Low option.
- Resolution.
- VSYNC.
- Brightness (Gamma).
- Camera Field of View, under the gameplay settings.
The same June update also optimized light sources for better performance, and distant wall-torch lights now switch off.
Is Deep Dish Dungeon Verified on Steam Deck?
Yes. Deep Dish Dungeon is Steam Deck Verified, and the developers announced it on Steam on September 30, 2026. Steam's Verified page says the game has been fully tested and runs great on the Deck.
Valve ran its test on September 25, 2026, on a build of the full game. Valve's Steam Deck checks found that:
- every function works with the default controller configuration;
- the game shows Steam Deck button icons;
- interface text is legible on the Deck's screen;
- the default graphics settings run well on the Deck.
Valve's data also marks single-player and first-time setup as not needing an internet connection on the Deck.
The rating is for the full game only. The free demo has no Steam Deck rating, so the Verified badge says nothing about how the demo plays on a Deck.
Deep Dish Dungeon controller support
Yes, you can play Deep Dish Dungeon with a controller. The developers added controller support in the June 2026 demo update: Dev Blog #9 on June 12 announced it, and the update notes on Steam from June 15 list "Controller support" first. Valve's Steam Deck checks of the full game in September found that every function works with the default controller configuration.
You can rebind controls. The demo's settings have a KEY BINDS page with Primary and Secondary columns and a DEFAULT button to reset them, and it keeps separate bindings for CONTROLLER and for KEYBOARD & MOUSE. Since the June update, the key-binding screen switches between the two as soon as you pick up the other device.
If you found an answer saying the game is keyboard-and-mouse only, or that controller support is still being worked on, check its date. Those replies on the Steam board and in the Discord are from late 2025 and February 2026, before the June update.
Can you play Deep Dish Dungeon on Mac or Linux?
Mac: Steam lists macOS as a platform for the full game. As of October 5, 2026, though, the Mac requirements on the full game's Steam page repeat the Windows requirements word for word and name no macOS version, so we don't treat them as Mac specs. The demo's store page has proper Mac requirements: macOS 11 Big Sur, an Apple M1 (M3 recommended), 8 GB of RAM (16 GB recommended) and a Metal-compatible GPU. The public demo itself has no Mac version yet; a developer said on October 1 that a macOS demo build was being made. We will check the Mac listing again at launch.
Linux: Steam lists no Linux version, and a developer said in June 2026 that Linux is not supported yet. Steam Deck Verified does not change that: Valve's rating covers the Deck, not Linux desktops. Our release date page tracks Linux, PlayStation and Switch announcements.
Download and install size
Steam asks for 2 GB of available space, for both the full game and the demo. That is the figure to plan around.
The demo gives a sense of the real size: on Steam it is about a 0.5 GB download and takes about 1.9 GB once installed. Steam does not show the full game's download size before launch. Our demo guide covers where to download it.
On the Microsoft Store, the full game lists a maximum download of about 0.7 GB for the PC version and about 1.0 GB for Xbox consoles. Those are the largest downloads the listing allows, not install sizes.
Demo vs full game requirements
The demo has its own Steam page, and its requirements are almost the same as the full game's. Two lines differ, and so does the Mac column. For what the demo includes, how long it is and where it ends, see our Deep Dish Dungeon demo guide.
Both Steam store listings, checked October 5, 2026. | Line | Demo | Full game |
| Recommended memory | 8 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Network | Not listed | Broadband Internet connection |
| Mac requirements | macOS 11, Apple M1 or M3, Metal GPU | A copy of the Windows requirements |
| Everything else | Same as the full game | — |
If the demo runs well on your PC with 8 GB of RAM, that is a good sign, but Steam recommends twice as much memory for the full game.
Known issues: the Deep Dish Dungeon torch bug and more
These problems come from players of the demo. None of them means your PC is below the requirements.
Player reports and developer replies on the Steam board and in the official Discord, February to October 2026. | Issue | Who reports it | What the developers have said | Status |
| Holding a torch makes the screen dark | Demo players since February 2026, on PCs above the recommended specs | A bug on specific hardware, not a sign your PC is too weak | No fix for everyone as of June 26, 2026; still reported on October 5, 2026 |
| Memory fills up on Linux and Proton | Demo players on Linux, including some on Steam Deck, February to June 2026 | The developer said he would look into it; Linux is not supported | Demo-era reports, before Valve's Deck test |
| Ultrawide monitors | Demo players asking for 21:9 | The main menu supports 21:9 since June; the publisher's community team said full ultrawide support is being worked on for the full game | Not confirmed for launch |
The torch bug
The Deep Dish Dungeon torch bug is the most common hardware complaint about the demo. When you pick up a torch, it makes the area darker instead of lighting it, and on some PCs the whole screen goes black. Players in the Steam thread Torch does not work and in the Discord reported it on gaming PCs and laptops well above the recommended specs.
When the reports first came in, a developer guessed in the Discord on February 12, 2026 that the PC might not meet the minimum requirements. He changed that view within days: on February 20 he called it an issue "in some hardware", and on February 23 a bug "for some specific hardware configuration" whose cause he did not know yet. On the Steam board he described the cases as rare and specific to some players' hardware. On June 26 he said he had tried ten different fixes and that "We don't have the fix for everyone yet." After an April thread, the publisher's community team said on Steam that they had not been able to reproduce it on their computers and asked affected players to send a support ticket.
Two workarounds from February are history rather than fixes. The developer suggested the Low quality setting, but the June update removed Low. Players also shared a trick, which the developer reposted in the Discord: hold the torch, choose STARVE TO DEATH from the pause menu, and after you respawn the torch lights normally until you close the game. It is a player workaround from an early demo build, not a fix.
On October 5, 2026, a player reported in the Discord that the bug was still present in the latest community test build. Whether the full game fixes it will only be clear at launch, and we will update this section then.
Linux and Proton memory use
During the demo, players on Linux and Proton reported that memory use kept climbing until the game crashed, usually after 30 to 60 minutes. On the Steam board, the developer thanked them, said he would look into it, and added that he could not support virtual machines. These reports come from the demo and from before Valve's Steam Deck test of the full game.
Ultrawide monitors
The June 2026 update made the main menu support both 16:9 and 21:9, but players still could not pick an ultrawide resolution in the game afterward. The publisher's community team said on Steam that they are working on ultrawide support and want it in the full game.
Version notes and limits
On launch day, October 13, 2026, we will recheck the Steam requirements, the Mac requirements and Mac download, Valve's Steam Deck data and the Microsoft Store listing. The full game's real download and install size become visible on Steam after launch.
After launch we will watch for three things: whether the torch bug is fixed in the full game, whether the full game supports ultrawide resolutions, and whether the Linux and Proton memory reports continue. Each change is added with the date we checked it.
