Why won't Patch Yourself Up complete?
In the demo it waits for a "healed" signal that no item sends; the first aid kit sends a "cured" signal instead.
Patch Yourself Up cannot be completed in the Nomad Drive demo through normal play. The objective waits for a signal that no item in the demo ever sends, so using a first aid kit, getting hurt again or trying pills will not tick it. You are not doing anything wrong, and leaving it open does not block any other objective. A first aid kit still restores up to 50 health.

Every row describes the demo, Steam build 25361176, read from its files and code on October 10, 2026. The Early Access build arrives on October 20, 2026 and will be checked on launch day.
Every objective step in Nomad Drive listens for a signal from the game. The one step of Patch Yourself Up, "Use a first aid kit to recover health", listens for a "healed" signal. We went through every place in the demo's code that sends an objective signal: only one piece of code sends "healed", and no item or object anywhere in the demo's files uses it.
The first aid kit you actually find in the world sends a different signal, "cured". That is the signal the Cure the Poison objective waits for. Pills work the same way. So when you use a first aid kit, the game registers it, just under the wrong objective, and Patch Yourself Up never hears about it.
That explains what players keep reporting. In the Steam thread "PATCH YOURSELF UP UNCLEARED" and in a bug report on the official Discord, players got hurt by jumping off buildings or drinking fuel, used first aid kits, repeated it several times, and the objective stayed open. None of those tricks can work, because the problem is not how you heal but what the objective is listening for.
These findings come from reading the demo's files and code, Steam build 25361176; the developers have not replied to the bug report.
No. In the demo only one chain of objectives depends on another: Gather Your Tools unlocks Build your first RV!, which unlocks Power Up and Start the Engine. Patch Yourself Up is not part of it, and nothing else waits for it. Loot, locations and other objectives carry on exactly the same with it open.
Some players felt they were "not making progress" because of it, but nothing in the demo checks whether it is done. It is one of the demo's known issues, listed with the others in our demo guide.
Both items still work as medicine:
You can only use either one when you have lost at least 1 point of health or are poisoned. At full health with no poison, pressing use does nothing and the item is not used up, which is why some players first thought the kit was broken.
Because both send the "cured" signal, using one completes the step of Cure the Poison, the objective that appears the first time you are poisoned, as long as that objective is already on your list.
First aid kits are in many loot tables: the starter house, gas stations, radio stations and the bus stop table with the rare chest always include one in at least one of their tables, and factories, car wrecks and the shipping container area sometimes do. Keep one in the RV.
The objective is added the first time you take damage, at the moment the damage section first shows on your health bar. That is why players see it after a fall, a crash or drinking something they should not have. Cure the Poison works the same way, but it waits for the first time you are poisoned.
Two items are still open: whether a first aid kit's 50 health stops at your maximum, and whether the Early Access build fixes the objective. What Early Access changes is tracked on our roadmap page.
Launch day, October 20, 2026, triggers a fresh check of this objective in the Early Access build; if it can be completed there, this page becomes a guide to completing it.
In the demo it waits for a "healed" signal that no item sends; the first aid kit sends a "cured" signal instead.
No. No other objective depends on it, and the rest of the game carries on normally.
It restores up to 50 health and reduces poison. It also completes Cure the Poison if that objective is active.
You can only use it when you have lost health or are poisoned. At full health nothing happens.
No. Pills send the same "cured" signal as the first aid kit.
The first time you take damage and the damage section shows on your health bar.
The developers have not said. We will check the Early Access build on launch day.
