Game files checked October 23, 2026 · Loftia Demo, Steam build 26139222

To get Scrambled Coordinates in Loftia, keep harvesting gathering spots around Loftia City after Ryder gives you his quest "Adventure Awaits!". Every harvest has a chance to drop one. Collect 3, show them to Ryder (the quest calls him "the Adventurer"), and he sends you on your first adventure; finishing the quest pays you 15 more.

Where to find Scrambled Coordinates

Scrambled Coordinates have no fixed spot. They are a bonus drop: every time you harvest a gathering spot in Loftia City, the game rolls a chance to hand you one Scrambled Coordinates on top of the normal materials. The official news page says they can drop from harvesting any resource node, and a developer told players in the official Loftia Discord on October 19, 2026 that you can find them "anywhere, anytime you forage".

Two things decide whether you can get them at all:

  • Ryder's quest has to be running. The drop only switches on once you have picked up "Adventure Awaits!" from Ryder. Harvesting before that gives you nothing, so if you spent the early game salvaging and never saw one, that is why.
  • It has to be a Loftia City gathering spot. Tall grass, berry bushes, scrap piles and the other salvage spots around the city all count; the full list of twelve is below.

How often they drop is in the bad-luck section. The short version: early on, while the quest is asking you for your first 3, the game gives you an extra chance on every harvest, so the first few come faster than later ones.

Ryder's "Adventure Awaits!" quest

"Adventure Awaits!" is the side quest that introduces adventures. Ryder offers it once you have finished "Permission to Glide", and the quest log describes it as Ryder suspecting that Loftia's instability is tied to the Research Islands. It has four steps:

  1. Salvage resources in the city to find Scrambled Coordinates. You need 3 in your inventory.
  2. Show the coordinates to the Adventurer. The Adventurer is Ryder: the quest gives him that title in the objective, but the game files use the same character for the quest giver and both hand-ins, and his name is Ryder. Walk back to him; you do not need to look for anyone else.
  3. Play an Adventure through the end. Ryder's airship takes you to your first island.
  4. Report back with island data. Talk to Ryder again to finish the quest.

Finishing the quest gives you 15 Scrambled Coordinates, enough for five more adventures.

If you started this quest in the demo, your progress was saved with your account and carries over to Early Access; what the demo carried over is on our release date page.

What Scrambled Coordinates are for

Scrambled Coordinates are the ticket for Ryder's airship. Each one points at a spot in the sky, and every adventure costs 3 of them. Adventures take you to the Research Islands, where you explore, gather and come back with rewards such as Bloom.

  • Your first adventure is solo. It goes to Crater Island and is set to one player. A developer explained on October 20, 2026 that the first one is preset as a solo run to show you how adventures work.
  • After that you can group up. The next adventure, Grassy Islands, takes up to 4 players.
  • Adventures are short. The game files give each adventure a 240-second timer, four minutes.

Other ways to get Scrambled Coordinates

Harvesting is the main source, but there are three others.

  • Ryder's quest reward. Finishing "Adventure Awaits!" pays 15, as above.
  • The daily chest. A developer pointed players on October 20, 2026 to the daily chest in the Player Neighborhoods. Its Scrambled Coordinates and Bloom only unlock after you finish "Adventure Awaits!", a change made in the first demo patch. The game files give the chest two possible rewards, 3 to 5 Scrambled Coordinates or 3 to 5 Bloom, and set it to hand out one reward per chest, so some days you may get Bloom instead.
  • Cella's Key Shop. Cella sells Scrambled Coordinates for 30 Dew each. Her shop opens after her quest "The Real Treasure", which only becomes available once the Loftia City story hands over to the Hanging Gardens, so you will not have it while you are still collecting your first 3.

How many Scrambled Coordinates you can carry

You can hold 50 Scrambled Coordinates. The Travel Kit perk raises the carry limit for adventure items by 10, and the game files list it at three levels, each adding 10. We have not confirmed in play that all three levels stack.

Selling them is rarely worth it: they go for 10 Dew each, while Cella charges 30 to buy one back.

If you can't find any Scrambled Coordinates

Most players who get stuck are harvesting the right things and just unlucky, or harvested before Ryder's quest started. Check these in order.

1. Is "Adventure Awaits!" in your quest log? The drop does not exist until it is. If it is not there, finish "Permission to Glide" and talk to Ryder.

2. Are you harvesting in Loftia City? These twelve gathering spots can drop them:

  • Tall Grass
  • Clay Mound
  • Plastic Bottles
  • Bucket of Screws
  • Wire Pile
  • Berry Bush
  • Wooden Crates
  • Washing Machine
  • Pile of Tires
  • Old Microwave
  • Crate
  • Abandoned Car

Mushrooms are not on the list for Loftia City.

3. How lucky do you need to be? Read from the game files, not measured in play: each harvest has a 10% chance to drop one, or 20% on a critical harvest. While the quest is still asking for your first 3, the game adds a separate 40% roll on each harvest. We have not confirmed how the two rolls combine, so treat the first few as faster rather than guaranteed. The developers' first demo patch notes, posted on October 21, 2026 on Steam, say they clarified where to find Scrambled Coordinates for Ryder's quest and increased their drop chance during that quest step.

4. Looking for "maps"? A developer said on October 21, 2026 that maps was the old name for Scrambled Coordinates, so older videos and posts that mention maps mean the same item.

Version notes and limits

Three things on this page are still open: how the normal drop and the extra quest roll combine on one harvest, whether the daily chest ever gives both rewards at once, and whether the Early Access build changes any number here.

Launch day, November 3, 2026, triggers a recheck of every value on this page against the Early Access build. A changed drop chance, cost or limit is updated with the date it was checked.
