Does Probably Stolen support mods?
Yes. The full game has modding support: Steam Workshop, a modding API and mod localization, as the developers announced on October 21, 2026.
Yes, Probably Stolen supports mods in the full game. On October 21, 2026, a week before release, the developers announced Steam Workshop support, a modding API and support for translating mods. Mods made for the demo will likely not work in the full game, they added. The game itself is single-player; multiplayer exists only as a community mod.

The developers have planned for mods since before the demo. On April 1, 2026 the lead developer announced in the official Discord that "modding support is now in active development", with in-game support for adding items, events, characters, sounds and art. During the Playtest he explained that the support already existed but could not be released before the game came out on Steam, and a developer replied on the Steam forum on August 30, 2026: "The full game will have modding support."
The October 21 announcement names three parts: Steam Workshop support, a modding API and mod localization support. In the official Discord's mod forum, the lead developer has also said that the item window will be easier for modders to work with in 1.0 and that more interface widgets are coming, such as sliders, progress bars and tabs.
In the full game, the mod window has four buttons: Open Mods Folder, Steam Workshop, Unsubscribe Selected and Auto-Sort Mods.
Before release, the Steam store page did not list Steam Workshop; the developers announced it for 1.0 on October 21, 2026. The store page did not list Steam Workshop on October 28, 2026, although the developers announced it for 1.0.
Probably not. The developers said on October 21, 2026 that mods made for the demo will likely not be compatible with the main game. During the demo, community mods were shared on Nexus Mods and loaded with MelonLoader, and their pages named the demo builds they supported; some stopped working when the October 19 demo update changed the build.
The lead developer has asked modders not to release mods that unlock content held back from a test build, and to wait for 1.0 before releasing mods that reuse the code written for the Gunsmith. This page does not list cheats, trainers or save editors.
No. The Steam store lists Probably Stolen as single-player. During the demo, a community mod added multiplayer; like the other demo mods, it depends on its author updating it for the full game. Platforms and the release are on our Probably Stolen release date page.
This page was updated for the release on October 28, 2026. The developers' statements quoted above were all made before release. A Steam Workshop page going live, official modding documentation or a patch that changes mod support triggers a recheck. What the free demo included is on our demo page.
