How do I get rid of radioactive waste in Probably Stolen?
Take it to the Dumping Grounds in a backpack and leave it. Georgio returns it once per run, so dump one barrel first and the rest after his visit.
Take the radioactive waste to the Dumping Grounds and leave it there. In Probably Stolen, Georgio brings it back the first time, every barrel you have dumped up to his visit, but he only does that once per run, so whatever you dump after his visit stays gone. The trash bin won't clear it and leaving it on the counter overnight won't either.

You don't find radioactive waste lying around; you are paid to take it. A customer, the Corporate Waste Manager, comes to your counter with hazardous waste to get rid of: proper disposal is expensive, so he offers you 100 Credits per barrel to take it off his hands. You choose how many barrels to accept: one, three or five.
The item is called Radioactive Waste, and its description says only "Radioactive waste material. Handle with care." It takes up storage space until you deal with it, and that is the catch: the money is up front, and the barrels are your problem afterwards.
Is the deal worth it? If you have room to carry the barrels to the Dumping Grounds, the method below turns the offer into easy money: up to 500 Credits for five barrels, with a few trips and one visit from Georgio as the cost. If your storage is already tight, take one barrel or decline.
The Dumping Grounds is where the waste goes. Players carry the barrels there in a light or heavy backpack and leave them behind, and the demo's code counts every barrel left at the Dumping Grounds as dumped.
Players worked out the cheapest way through this: dump a single barrel first, so Georgio only has one to bring back, then dump the remaining barrels after his visit. A player who dumped all five barrels at once in August 2026 had all five returned the next day; dumping them one a night after that, none came back.
The crate workaround. Players report a second way that skips the Dumping Grounds: put the waste inside a storage container you can afford to lose, such as an empty Security Crate or supply box, and throw the whole container in the trash. The container goes with it, so it costs you the crate. The game's trash check looks only at the item itself, not at what is inside a container, which is why it works. One player called it a method that "might be a bug, but it works right now", so a later build may close it.
Georgio has his own lines for this: he saw you "forget" something at the Dumping Grounds and kindly brought it back for you. It catches most players the first time.
Players found that he only does it once. Steam and Reddit players reported in August and September 2026 that Georgio does not return the waste a second time, and that dumping after his visit works. The demo's game code matches: Georgio's waste visit happens at most once per run, a few days in and only after you have dumped at least one barrel, and he returns the number of barrels you had dumped by then. After that visit the game keeps counting what you dump but never sends him back.
That is why reports seem to disagree. Players who dumped one barrel say "he brings back only the first one"; players who dumped five at once got all five back. Both are the same rule.
Throwing it in the trash. The trash bin won't clear hazardous waste. When the trash is emptied, the game skips anything tagged as hazardous waste, so the barrel stays in the bin. Some players simply leave it there as dead storage.
Leaving it outside the counter overnight. Nobody steals it and it doesn't vanish. Waste left on the counter overnight is counted and put back on your counter the next morning, as players found and as the demo's code shows.
Selling it. Players report that no customer would take it, including customers who buy anything. The game's list of reasons a customer refuses an item includes hazardous waste.
Reporting it to Security. One player tried reporting the situation to Security and said Security got angry instead of helping.
Stopping your insurance. A player who stopped paying insurance hoping the waste would be stolen reported that it never was.
Animal feces from livestock such as rats is a different kind of waste. The UPDATE 049 patch notes of September 14, 2026 added an incinerator to the Vacuum Robot: upgrade the robot with a Common Electronic, switch the incinerator on, and the robot destroys the feces in its storage after cleaning up. With the incinerator on, the robot uses double its normal power.
Chemical contaminants and organic waste in water are a water-quality problem, not a disposal one; our guide to purifying water covers which items remove them.
This page describes the free demo before the update the developers announced for October 19, 2026. Three things are still open: whether dismissing Georgio before he hands the waste back stops the return, exactly how a container's contents are removed with it, and whether the demo update or the full release on October 28 changes how waste is handled, including the crate workaround.
The October 19 demo update triggers a recheck of the dumping, Georgio, trash and counter rules on this page, and the full release triggers a recheck of everything. A changed rule is added with the date it was checked.
Take it to the Dumping Grounds in a backpack and leave it. Georgio returns it once per run, so dump one barrel first and the rest after his visit.
His visit happens once per run after you first dump waste, and he brings back everything you had dumped by then. After that, dumped waste stays gone.
No. Players report he does not return it a second time, and the demo's code only schedules his waste visit once per run.
Not on its own; the trash skips hazardous waste. Players report that putting it inside a crate and trashing the crate works, at the cost of the crate.
No. Waste left on the counter overnight is back the next morning.
Players report that no customer would take it, and the game's refusal rules include hazardous waste.
It pays 100 Credits a barrel, and the Dumping Grounds method above clears the barrels. If storage is tight, take one barrel.
Upgrade the Vacuum Robot with a Common Electronic and turn on its incinerator; it burns the feces it collects, at double the power cost.
